For the past 4 years, Fabes, Nadia and I have hosted It Begins With You – a HIV & AIDS awareness campaign that is jointly organized by MSD (Merck Sharp & Dohme), MaSHM (Malaysian Society of HIV Medicine) and MAC (Malaysian AIDS Council). This year, the grand finale was held at Berjaya Times Square and was hosted by Nadia and I. Students came from all over, UiTM, UPM, IMU, MU. There were all sorts of activities from Angry Birds HIV Edition made by IMU…

The idea of the game was to throw the angry birds which represent things like compassion towards pigs that represent the sitgmas surrounding HIV to even snake and ladders HIV edition by UiTM.

Of course, when it comes to things like HIV prevention, there’s always the link to contraceptives… and that’s when we discovered this thing that looked like butter but it’s a proudly Malaysian made male contraceptive!!!

Loads of them were given away for free. There were performances by even Dayang Nurfaizah…

Plus games like treasure hunt and sandwhich board signing competition to spread the awareness of HIV & AIDS to the public.

The event lasted almost 5 hours – at the wrap up… there was a surprise that even Nadia and I weren’t informed of… a FLASH MOB by the future doctors of Malaysia!!!

There’s so much to learn about HIV and AIDS. Every year, the Pagi Show learns more and more. This year was no different. We’ll do it all over again. For more information on HIV and AIDS, goto The Malaysian AIDS Council.

So a few days back we experienced a black-out. The rest of Sri Pentas was fine as you can see in the video… it was just us.

It was right after the Fly FM Pagi Show.. it was Hunny Madu’s turn (@heyhunnymadu) as you can see here, she is in complete darkness..

What’s stranger was what happened in the video…

So Monday came along… Phat Fabes (@phatfabes) and I were really excited… we don’t often have chicks coming to the show…

Okay fine Nadia (@nadiafly) is a chick but we see her so often that she now looks like a man… anyyywaaaayyzz… moving along…

Senoritas
When I first heard the name, I thought… WOW… Italians? Portuguese? It’s very obvious I don’t know my foreign languages right? I thought these girls were from overseas but then I found out they are LOCALS! Home girls baby! So proud of our Malaysian Music babies. Initially a 3-person girl band consisting of Zyra, Lynnzay & Dara that’s heavily influenced by Destiny’s Child.

They came to the show and saw only 2 of them… Dara was missing… they spoke about how they turned from a 3-2 person band – they claim there was no drama when as massive ‘sibuks’, we the Pagi Show believe something must have happened… * cheng cheng cheng *

Anyway, that aside, we checked out their latest single MAGIC and played it on air! Check it out below…

As with all celebrities, we made them sign our banting-of-fame and took shots!

At 12:30 sharp, the first round began and our cupids flew… Some people were super kiasu and managed to grab over 20 quotes while this dude only had 4 quotes and one of it made him 2k richer!!

Ohh… I also managed to catch some of our beautiful cupids resting… they were in charge of giving away ‘love’ lollipops…

By the end of 6pm… the session in 1 Utama & Sunway Pyramid manage to give away a grand total of 24,000 ringgit! If you weren’t there… where were you man? girl? boy? auntie? uncle? Don’t worry, I have a feeling we’ll have Fly FM Cupid Catch 2 soon… just keep listening to Fly FM

It was a Fortune Cookie weekend…
So Fabes, Nadia and I were sent to 2 shopping malls… on Saturday, we went to One Utama both New & Old wing and gave away these fortune cookies with words of wisdom which could come out starting next week… then on Sunday, Fabes got ill and so Nadia & I went to Pavilion, KL and did a LIVE broadcast from 3-6pm while giving away the cookies… it was MADNESS yo…

The boy has grown up, still in the B Boy scene and had his first hand in acting!

Back to the movie…
So the movie is about a bunch of teenagers who have supernatural powers because their genes were genetically modified when they were babies. It’s sort of like Heroes meet X-Men meet Final Destination! Dennis plays this dude who has the ability to meddle with electronics, talk electronic devices etc. while Ainul is like Nostradamus, she has the ability to predict the future!

The movie is directed by James Lee who has directed and won numerous international awards – checkout the trailer!

So check it out… part 1 was shown a week back and part 2 will be shown tonight (Sunday – 10pm on 8tv)… can’t catch it / missed it? Don’t scat… both parts are shown on tonton.com.my. Enjoy!

Sunday morning… 5th December 2010
Woke wifey up at 6:30.. and got ready for a journey to the land of Mentakab Pahang! To be honest, I’ve never been to Mentakab… heard of it, had no idea what to expect… some people on Twitter said they have the awesomest ‘ikan batin’ with cincalok (prawn paste thingy)… some said just look forward to the milo van

Set the GPS and it was READY… SET… GO!
I drove and drove and drove… passing the Genting toll plaza… entered the Karak Highway… passed the Karak highway (it’s been a long time since I’ve passed this bit coz my journey to this area usually ends at the top of the glorious Genting Highlands… So anyway, the GPS led me to this Timur Barat Expressway which was AMAZING… the roads were clear… clouds were literally hanging low… it was a REALLY REALLY nice drive…

The journey took about 2 hours… and then I arrived…

Went straight to the milo van!!! muahaha… brings back loads of childhood memories…

and chilled with the really excited kids, announcers and troopers from the our sister stations Hot FM and One FM….

So it was yesterday – Saturday, 4th December 2010 6:30pm @ 1 Utama, Central Park Avenue…

It was CAN-CAN or CAN-CANNOT? The idea of the competition is very simple. Simply dance the can-can the longest with 2-minute breaks every 15 minutes and win a trip for 2 to the land of love, the land of croissant, land of escargots, land of Eiffel tower… you get the idea… it’s PARIS for 1 whole WEEK!

The setup…
So a stage was set-up complete with a running timer to see who lasts the longest…

Everyone was ready to go… some even came in complete tracksuits!

some came dressed in ‘french’ colours… red, white and blue!

Okay okay, everyone worked hard, it was loads of team effort but I must say, this Nerf thing isn’t just for kids… adults will LOVE it too. Regardless of what position you got, everyone picked up prizes… of course the most prizes came to my team… Yeah!

Drama begins… the return trip from Penang
The event over ran a little – we were supposed to end at 5 but it ended much later. I only managed to have dinner around 7-ish. Right after dinner, we departed for Kuala Lumpur.

Firstly, the road conditions were really bad… it was dark (typical of highways), the rain was just crazy, there were crazy cars tail gating, I was getting really really tired… especially after hosting Fly Club Access Platinum the night before and leaving early in the morning for Penang… Good thing I had my wife Stella with me.

I drove about 1 1/2 hours and handed the wheel to Stella… I just couldn’t take it no more. It was still pouring outside, visibility was quite bad… I took a quick nap…

That’s when it happened…
All of a sudden I felt my car swerve to the left… the movement was so sudden that it shocked me out of deep sleep… I woke up, saw the sign “tapah” and there was Stella struggling to keep the car straight… all she said was “I dunno what happened, it was a straight road, then I was pushed violently to the left”… I said well, maybe it hydroplaning… that happens when there’s a film of water on the road and if you’re traveling too fast, the tires might ‘skid’.

I went to sleep again… few minutes later… it HAPPENED again… at this point, I was getting a little concerned. I looked at dash, checked the status and no error was shown… Stella claimed she didn’t see any of the ‘safety’ systems activate. Stella was driving really really slowly now… she was shaken and honestly, so was I. I didn’t want to show it – macho mah…

I asked to take over the wheel and drove the rest of the journey back to KL.

It was 1:20am….
Upon arriving at my neighborhood, I had to go through a few humps. I went up the first one and my entire front suspension made loud strange sounds – it sounded as though the entire suspension was loose or came off!

The car was still moving, so I went on the second hump, this time it was REALLY obvious.

Since it was late… I went home, slept and went to the workshop – spent literally 8 hours here…

I was told that my ‘bush’ – nothing hairy, suspension etc for the front has been suspected as being faulty… it’s under warranty so it will be replaced for FREE… phew!

Question is, did the little drama Stella & I have anything to do with the faulty front suspension system? According to my mum, the Tapah area has been known to have cases of cars being completely out of control… some claim it was supernatural, some claim it was cross-wind… which would you like to believe?
