Pretty flowers… for you and me…
So over the weekend… I went to the land of “pretty flowers, for you and me” <- read that with a tune… I have NO FREAKING idea where I got it from. Perhaps it was one of those trips to Singapore when I was much younger and someone was trying to con my innocent younger self that it was Singapore’s National Anthem. I did a check… and no it isn’t their national song. Anyway, it’s not a bad sounding song… whenever I think of Singapore – there’s the tune again…
The most intimidating sound “BEEP, BEEP”
This time, I drove down… it’s been a LOOONG time since I went to Singapore, let alone DRIVE in their streets… I must say, either they didn’t like my Malaysian Car Number Plate or I just sucked at driving… I was honked LEFT RIGHT CENTER! The only thing I consoled myself with was the way their bus’ horns sounded… it was like “BEEP BEEP”… think they need more ‘garang’ horns
After fighting the “BEEP BEEPs”, I arrived at the hotel – not too bad… just very pink…
Hooters BABY!
Room was nice… and so, after checking in, whilst in that PINK mood, we headed to a place called Clarke Quay – it’s a REALLY REALLY happening place… bars, clubs, restaurants everywhere, all dotted along Singapore’s main river – I decided to checkout HOOTERS… Here’s a bunch of girls going nuts over hoops…
The girls? erm… nothing much to shout about… okay-LAAAR… then Stella & I decided to checkout a nearby shopping center – where they had this very intimidating escalator…
Choupinette, Singapore
Next morning, we went hunting for a French breakfast! Why? I have no idea… Stella just thought of it… and so we went to this very cozy place that is run by a nice little French lady… it’s called Choupinette @ Bukit Timah, Singapore.
They are said to have the BEST POACHED EGGS in town… PERFECT… I gave it a try… just LOOK HOW BEAUTIFUL it is…
Then there were the desserts… it SERIOUSLY wasn’t helping my diet regime… ahead I went “YUM!”
After breakfast, it was attending my friend’s wedding – Sanny from Johor Baru… look how happy they are… ahhhh… to be honest, they are the REAL reason why we are down in Singapore… shop in Singapore… attend wedding in JB
4 hours later, we were BAAACCKKK to land of “pretty flowers for you and me”… we headed to Funan Centre, this HUGE IT mall… and they had real good eggs too!
“Excuse me…”
Only problem was… “Excuse me, can I have some tissue please?”… “Sorry, no tissue, we don’t provide tissue…”
and that was it…
That night… the escapade continued… more food! Stella had this craving for macaroons and so we searched high and low… (like we haven’t had enough desserts for the day right?)… then we found it, a dessert store, specializing in macaroons… SUCH A contrast compared to what we saw at Choupinette…
Best BREAKFAST in Singapore
Next morning… BREAKFAST! Went to a place which many Singaporeans and expats proclaim as one of THE BEST places to have breakfast on a weekend… “Jones, the Grocer” and I ABSOLUTELY agree. Best breakfast EVER… it’s not so much the food (although it isn’t bad at all), it’s the atmosphere… the moment I walked in, the coffee, the hustle and bustle, the market like feel, the trays and trays of desserts and pastries… WOW… this place is amazing.
In conclusion…
It was a great food escapade in Singapore… I’m physically a little fatter and my wallet has become slimmer. NICE.
